Jonathan Armstrong
Coach Jonathan Armstrong (Coach Jon) has been a Whiteshark coach since the team's inception in 1995. Jonathan grew up in Houston, Texas and was an NWAL swimmer for the Hearthstone Heatwaves for 9 years and Copperfield Assistant Coach for 1 year before becoming a coach for Wortham. He graduated from Cy-Fair High School in 1993 where he was a 4-year varsity swimming letter winner. He then attended Rice University where he swam for 4 years and graduated in 1997 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Jonathan continues to swim today for a local Masters program. Currently, Jonathan is an Engineer for ExxonMobil where he has been since 1997. Jonathan and wife, Coach Mindy have three young children, David, Caroline, and Leah. They are Wortham Villages residents, where Jonathan is also on the Wortham Homeowners Association Board of Directors.
Mindy Armstrong
Coach Mindy Armstrong has been a Whiteshark coach since 1998, the same year she married Coach Jon. Mindy grew up in Katy, Texas and started swimming at 3 years old in the West Houston Aquatic League, where she swam 12 years. She graduated from Katy High School in 1994 where she was a 4-year varsity swimming letter winner. She swam for the University of Houston swim team and graduated in 1998 with a degree in Education. Mindy taught elementary school in the Cy-Fair ISD for 5 years before taking time off after the birth of her son David. Two little girls, Caroline and Leah quickly followed, making Coach Mindy a busy mother of three. Coach Mindy has a Master’s degree in Special Education and is a part-time Educational Diagnostician in CFISD. In her free time, she completed her first triathlon and half-marathon this year.
